Vladimir Cherkassky

is a Scientific Specialist. He performs complex data analyses and develops methods and software packages for fMRI data analysis and management. He also supervises all software/hardware projects for CCBI and performs Unix system administration.

Theodore DePietro Jr.

received a BS degree in Computer Engineering from the Univ. of Pittsburgh. After graduating, he went on to do electronics / software development in the field of Rehabilitation Sciences. He now serves as a Research Programmer and System Administrator for the CCBI.

Nick Diana

recieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Neuroscience from Allegheny College. His previous research experience focused around the social implications of attention allocation mechanisms. In addition to selective attention, he is interested in the intersections between cognitive science and education.

Robert Vargas

Robert Vargas

graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.A. in Psychology. He went on to do research at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio developing causal modeling techniques using electrocorticographic data. He is interested in understanding the neural structures behind conceptual representations and how they underpin language by utilizing multivariate techniques on fMRI and MEG data.

a graduate of Geneva College with a B.S. in biology, is the Administrative Coordinator who provides administrative support for most of the projects. She has been a member of the group for 14 years.

Kara Cohen

graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Her previous research experience focused on the effect of collaboration on category learning and examining the empirical validity of the evolutionary behavioral sciences.

Chelsea McGrath

received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh. Her previous research experience focused on ERP research in bilingual language processing.

Sashank Varma

is a Research Programmer for the CCBI. He works on the 4CAPS project developing a computational modeling system (4CAPS), which can account for the fMRI and behavioral results in a growing number of tasks. He has used 4CAPS to develop models of sentence comprehension, mental rotation, Tower of London problem-solving, and dual-task performance.
